Visions of the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict
The earliest wave of Azerbaijani refugees fled Armenia in 1988. Then ethnic cleansing started in Nagorno-Karabakh around 1992. People fled bordering regions mostly in 1993 and cease-fire was signed in May 1994. Currently 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory is under military occupation by Armenians. As an estimated 1 million Azerbaijanis have been driven from their homes as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The People the World Forgot-Visions of the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict is a photograph album which aims to show the international community the hardship suffered by the many people displaced by the Armenian- Azerbaijani conflict over the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
